Inside Georgia’s One-of-a-Kind Acting Camp: Where Kids Compete, Create, and Get Seen by Real Industry Pros

There are a lot of acting camps out there—but nothing quite like this.
At Words In Motion Acting Studio, we’ve created something truly unique: a summer camp that gives young performers not just a place to have fun—but a real taste of what it’s like to work in the film and television industry.

This isn’t a talent show.
This isn’t a theater skit with parents clapping politely at the end.
This is a real, week-long, judged competition. And it’s judged by the very people who cast, direct, and produce film and television projects in the real world.

A Camp Designed with Purpose

Our Skit Competition & Acting Camp is Georgia’s only acting camp judged by industry professionals. That means your child’s work will be seen by agents, directors, producers, and working creatives who actively cast for film, television, and commercials.

That’s rare—and incredibly valuable for young actors just getting started.

Each year, we invite industry professionals who have their fingers on the pulse of the business to serve as judges. These are not volunteers. They’re professionals who are watching these skits with an eye for talent. They offer feedback, select award-winning performances, and sometimes even request headshots and resumes for future casting.

It All Starts on Day One

Campers arrive on the first day and are quickly divided into teams, each led by a working actor from Words In Motion Acting Studio—a professional who understands how to guide young talent. These teams dive immediately into creating their skits:

  • Choosing characters

  • Building storylines

  • Rehearsing timing and delivery

  • Learning how to perform under pressure

This entire process is overseen by Kelly Young-Silva, Emmy Award-winning actor, producer, and founder of Words In Motion. Kelly brings her deep experience in front of and behind the camera to shape the structure of the week and ensure every camper receives high-level instruction and care.

Not Just Camp—A True Competition

Throughout the week, teams rehearse with guidance from working actors who understand how to coach young performers in a way that feels both exciting and professional.

And then—it’s performance time.

Each team presents their skit to our panel of judges. Awards are given in multiple categories, including:
🏆 Best Actor
🏆 Best Director
🏆 Best Team
🏆 Best Overall Performance

These awards aren’t just feel-good titles—they’re recognition of effort, teamwork, timing, and character work. And they help young actors feel what it’s really like to step into the world of production, where preparation meets opportunity.

Why We Do This

We built this camp with care and intention. As professionals who work in the industry every day, we wanted to give back to our community in a meaningful way. We wanted to offer something more than a generic “kids camp”—we wanted to give young actors, especially those in Douglas, Carroll, and surrounding counties, a way to step into a professional setting while still having a total blast.

We’ve seen this camp light a spark in kids who didn’t even know they liked acting. We’ve also seen it prepare young professionals for their next audition, showcase, or role. For some, this camp is their first time performing in front of anyone. For others, it’s one more step toward a lifelong dream.

What Makes It All Work? The Words In Motion Difference.

At Words In Motion Acting Studio, we train working actors every week.
We are proud to be one of Georgia’s top professional actor training studios.

Our students have landed roles in:

  • Stranger Things

  • The Lion King’s Mufasa (Voice of Young Mufasa)

  • Ozark

  • The upcoming DC Superman film

  • Commercials, voiceover work, and major network shows

This means that every piece of training your child receives at this camp comes from a place of experience, passion, and a track record of success.

We don’t offer cookie-cutter programming. We offer purposeful programming—because we believe that young actors deserve real-world opportunities, and we are committed to creating them.

This Is More Than a Camp—It’s a Step Into the Industry

So, if you’re looking for a camp that will inspire, challenge, and uplift your child, we welcome you to join us.
Let them experience what it means to collaborate like professionals, perform like pros, and be seen by real decision-makers.

We can’t wait to see what your young actor will bring to the stage this year.
And who knows? This might be the moment their passion becomes their path.

A Camp That Belongs on Your Actor’s Resume

Yes—this camp is more than just fun. It’s a professional experience.
Our workshops and camps are led by Emmy Award-winning educators and working professionals, and actors can list them under Training or Live Performances on their resumes.

It’s also the perfect way to prepare for our Summer Industry Showcase, where selected students perform in front of agents, casting directors, and producers from across the industry.

Who Should Attend?

  • Kids who love acting, performing, or storytelling

  • Aspiring young actors who want real-world experience

  • Newer students curious about acting in a creative, low-pressure environment
